Specac looks forward to a bright future outside Smiths Group

Specac International Limited announced in April, members of its executive team have partnered with Venture Capital Trust company, The Foresight Group to purchase the company from Smiths Group plc, owners of Specac since 1997.
 
Specac Managing Director, David Smith says, “Specac’s growth in recent years has been achieved through its focus on high quality, high specification accessories for the infrared and XRF spectroscopy markets. We have made it a key part of our commercial strategy to innovate, which has resulted in new products such as the Quest ATR, the leading accessory of its type in the market.
 
We have a strong team of dedicated and experienced commercial, design, operational and administrative staff, and I believe today’s announcement is the beginning of a new, exciting chapter in the rich history of Specac. Foresight group has also introduced Kevin O’Donovan to our business as Non- Executive Chairman. Product Profile - Storm Gas Cell

The Storm 10cm Gas Cell is ideal for analysing gases and vapours at ambient temperature and low pressures. Gases and gaseous mixtures can be examined in static or flow modes.
 
The Cell body is available in Pyrex or Stainless Steel, and easily fits in most modern spectrometers using the 3” x 2” slide mount. The Cell is available with a range of interchangeable window materials (NaCl, KBr, CaF2, BaF2 and ZnSe).
 
The Storm Gas Cell is also available in a heated version which allows gases and gaseous mixtures to be analysed between ambient and 250°C. The cell is heated with a low voltage heater (30v) and can be factory fitted with RS323, RS485 or USB connectivity if required.

Organisational Changes - New Starters

North American Business Manager - Scott J. Brecker MBA

Scott joins Specac after spending in his career as an environmental and pharmaceutical analytical chemist as well as business development and sales across the equipment manufacturing and Contract Research organizations industries. Scott professional experience spans from environmental laboratories and CROs, Environmental consultants, Quality, Pharmaceutical OTC and Discovery, to Scientific instrumentation and process automation including McNeil consumer products, Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, TRW, Endress and Hauser, JRF America, and Agilent Technologies. Scott holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Environmental Resources from Rutgers University, Cook College and a Masters of Business Administration in Management and Marketing from Saint Joseph’s University.

Engineering - Lionel Chaudet PhD

Lionel joins us from Microsharp where he worked for 2 years as an Engineer. Prior to this he spent 5 years at Imperial College London as a Research Assistant, while obtaining his PhD in Biophotonics.

The 25th UK ScienceWorld show will be taking place in Doncaster in October. ScienceWorld is Fisher Scientific’s Laboratory Experience and attracts more than 70 industry exhibitors. Specac will be exhibiting at ScienceWorld a wide range of spectroscopic accessories and sample preparation equipment. BCEIA - Beijing, China - 27-31 October 2015 - Booth F25

The 2015 BCEIA show will be taking place in Beijing in October. The BCEIA exhibition attracts visitors and exhibitors from all over the world and was attended by nearly 27,000 people in 2013. Specac will be exhibiting at BCEIA a wide range of spectroscopic accessories and sample preparation equipment.
